KYPY Exam 2021 postponed due to COVID, new dates to be announced later on

"Due to the emerging unprecedented surge of COVID-19 cases, and the subsequent restrictions and weekend curfew in many states, the KVPY-Aptitude Test 2021 is postponed in the larger interest of the students," 

KVPY is a National Program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences to attract highly motivated students to  pursue a career in basic sciences and scientific research.  It is funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the aptitude test and an interview. The first merit list is based on the aptitude test result and these students are then called for an interview.

The fellowship for SA/SX/SB - during 1st to 3rd years of - B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math. / Integrated M.Sc. /M.S. will get a monthly fellowship of ₹5000 and annual contingency grant is ₹20000.

Students are selected from the science streams from Class 11 to 1st year of any Undergraduate Program in Basic Sciences such as B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./M.S. in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology having aptitude for scientific research.

This step has been taken by the Department of Science and Technology in view of the significant increase in the COVID-19 cases and restrictions and weekend curfews imposed by several states.

As per the official website, IISER which is in charge of holding the KVPY 2022 Exam has already released the admit cards for the fellowship exam.

The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is an on-going National Program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences, initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to attract exceptionally highly motivated students for pursuing basic science courses and research career in science. 

Top institutes in the country, including the IISc and Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) consider the test for admission to BS and BS-MS dual degree programmes, respectively.

Until yesterday, the exam authority had not taken any decision with regards to postponement of KVPY 2022 exam and the exam was expected to go on as per its earlier schedule of 9th January 2022

Amid rising concerns around the Omicron Surge in several state, the  KVPY 2022 Fellowship Exam has been postponed by the exam authority.
